Best Teeth Whitening Method?
Alright, so i just got half my braces off, and am soon to get the rest off. I'm getting them off when i have spring break, so I want to go back to school with a dazzling white smile. My teeth are like an off white, and i really want them to shine! My mom doesnt want me to use Crest White Strips because they wear off my enamel (mighta spelled that wrong). Anyone got any good and very effective teeth whitening ideas?
:) Thanks! (:

Get some baking soda and mix it in with your toothpaste. This is what they put in whitening toothpastes most of the time... it tastes bad but it does the trick! Also, if you can bare it eat some lemons! Lemons have citric acid in them which is like a bleaching agent... some girls even use it on their hair to lighten it. This will definitley help brighten you smile good luck!
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html
Reply:Any other teeth whitening products would wear off enamel too.
Reply:I googled "teeth whitening home remedys" and found this one:
mix on small plate the following
1 tsp baking soda
dash of salt
then add a few drops of white vinegar, which will foam.
Then brush with toothpaste afterwards.
seems like a pretty safe method.
(some recipes on the site say to use peroxide...I wouldn't recommend that. It seems unsafe)
Reply:One popular tooth whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually carbamide peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations.
Whiteners that contain peroxide typically come in gel form and are placed in a mouthguard. Some products are used twice a day for 2 weeks while others are intended for overnight use for a 1 to 2 weeks period. If you can obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he will be able to construct a custom mouth guard to fit your teeth precisely. Currently, the American Dental Association endorses only dentist-dispensed home-use percent carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels.
In addition to bleaching solution, whitening strips are increasingly being used as a preferred tooth whitening product. For instance, you are now able to get your hands on a set of Crest Whitestrips Supreme from any convenience store. The flexible, invisible strips are coated with an enamel-safe tooth bleaching gel. To whiten your teeth, you simply place the strips on your teeth and wear them for about 15 to 30 minutes each day. After a period of about 21 days, you should be able to see a significant difference on the brightness of your teeth.

Teeth whitening help! please!?
I wanted to use baking soda and peroxide for whitening my teeth. Do I just use it as like a mouth wash? And how much do I use of each? And do I mix water with it?
Teeth whitening help! please!?
Most people that try this brush their teeth with baking soda %26amp; then rinse with Peroxide mixed with water. ( 1 small cup ; fill the cup half way with Peroxide then fill the rest of the cup with water.) Your mouth will be foamy...don't be alarmed.
Reply:Lemon juice, baking soda or baking powder can also be used for teeth whitening. Rubbing the bark of walnut tree brightens the teeth. Strawberries are natural teeth whiteners, simply rub them directly on your teeth or mash into a paste and apply.More remedies and information regarding your teeth at http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/
Reply:The most common option used as homemade teeth whitening agent is baking soda, which has a mild bleaching action. Given that it is used in baking, it also implies safety. Baking soda is sprinkled on the toothbrush, and teeth then cleaned using a gentle, circular motion. Care should still be taken though, especially for people with gum sensitivity. Old wives’ recipes often state that a paste of baking powder, a little salt, and a few drops of white vinegar, works effectively.
Salt, used exactly as baking soda, is also touted as being a good teeth whitener. However, it might just be its osmosis, dehydrating action that makes teeth appear whiter, since dehydrated teeth look whiter.

Does teeth whitening make your teeth stain more easily?
Does teeth whitening make your gums more sensitive and make stufff like drinking coffee worse for stains?
Does teeth whitening make your teeth stain more easily?
It can initially after bleaching since your teeth are more "porous", but if you rinse w/ Fluoride that will help "seal" your teeth. Sensitive gums result from chemical irritation, epithelial breakdown, and that only improves with healing time.
Reply:After you bleach, or if you bleach often, the pores in your teeth are open. If you drink coffee or tea or eat something such as berries or red sauce after you bleach all of the coloring will go into the pores. Once the pores close off either with the pH balancing from your saliva, flouride or water that stain will be trapped in the tooth. The pores open with response to any acid. That's how teeth get stained in the first place. Your teeth act in a since as dehydrated and when you drink something it tries to hold all that it can. You should drink flouridated water after bleaching.

Teeth Whitening Strips?
Has anyone tried the Target Brand's Premium Teeth Whitening Strips? They're cheaper and say they work the same...
Teeth Whitening Strips?
There are several products on the market. The cheapest and easiest one is whitening strips. They do make your teeth white, provided that your teeth are not badly stained to start with. The next would be the trays made by your dentist and you put a whitening gel in them every night and you sleep with them. They work very well. The best and the most expensive one right now is called "Zoom" whitening. It is done your dentist and they make your teeth brighter by about 10 shades but they do make your teeth sensitive though. The best product is determined by your needs and differs from patient to patient
Reply:They are illegal now.
Reply:No whitening strips work that well. The way to do it is the dentist and have them use that bleach thing, but that's expensive. Also, if you use teeth whitening or go to the dentist, it damages your teeth and you can tell afterwards about 5-10 years later.
Reply:They work but if you do it too often they ruin the enamel on your teeth!
Reply:Not nearly as good as Crest's. I tried Targets and they didn't do anything. Then I tried Crest White Strips and they were way better. Less than a week and my teeth were much better.
Reply:For best results, go to your denist and have him prescribe whitening solution. they will make you custom whitening trays to go in your mouth.
Reply:i think it will be the same..but name brand would most likely be just a little better..
Reply:I haven't tried Target's brand of tooth whitener. But people who say that OTC teeth whiteners don't work either have never used them or have never used them correctly. I have a brilliant white smile thanks to OTC teeth whitener...and I smoke! I've tried Crest Whitestrips and they weren't all that great. The best tooth whitener I found was at the Dollar General store (seriously) for 6 bucks! Also, the one with the laser light thing, you can get it at Walmart, that works pretty good too. But try different brands and see what works for you, b/c it's been my experience that just b/c it costs more, doesn't mean it works any better.
Reply:Results from tooth paste are totally insignificant the best way to whiten your teeth is by using Carbamide Peroxide, this is what dentists actually use and charge £300 per treatment.
We sell this for home use for around £20 and we also sell Laser kits. If you would like to know more please e mail me. or visit www.toothwhitening4all.com
Laser kits produce immediate results and they are inexpensive.
Even if you have not taken care of your teeth you will get amazing results. Just be carefull when parting money with a dentist, its cheaper to do your own at home we supply dentists with the same gels.
Reply:we are talking about the very same whitening material here but in different ways of application .. the most important thing is how to manage it whil ein the mouth .. if you can do it without having to go to the dentist to fix it for you and clean up the place first .. then go ahead
Reply:yes and it dose work better for me
Reply:i just bought the walgreen's brand strips. i want to use them, but i'm afraid they will ruin my teeth. i chipped my front tooth when i was little and i got it fillled so you can't tell now. but the box says that the strips only whiten natural teeth. so, i'm afraid that everything but that filling will be white. that would look horrible. i don't know what to do.

Teeth whitening gum & braces?
I have braces, so can I use teeth whitening gum? Will the parts under my braces still be ugly? ahh help./
Teeth whitening gum %26amp; braces?
You should probably wait until after you get your braces off to do any kind of whitening. The reason why is because the spaces under the brackets will stay the same color while the rest of the tooth will become brighter and then when you get your braces off you will have a dark square on every tooth. I don't think you would want that. I don't know this for sure but I think that if you do try to whiten your teeth that is what will happen. Hope I helped.
Reply:eh thats probably just like using teeth whitening tooth paste..i think its alright but im not sure
Reply:why dont u brush with Crest whitening toothpaste? thats wat i do and i have braces.
Reply:yeah they most likely will stay the same colour. i suggest you wait til you've had your braces off before your start whitening your teeth
Reply:Teeth whitening gum will not effect your teeth with braces..but do not listen to the other commenters when they said to use whitening toothpaste...DO NOT USE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE..it will definately make dark spots of where your brackets were..whitening toothpaste+braces=a big NO. lol..hopefully that helped! [:
Reply:Do NOT use a whitening toothpaste or any kind of gum.
The areas around the brackets will be white.. but under the brackets will still be the color of your teeth when you got your braces. I just got mine yesturday and she went over everything and she specifically said NO WHITENING PRODUCTS! There was a girl in the office who had just gotten hers off and she had done what they told her not to do and she had noticable scaring.
Just wait until you get them off to whiten your teeth.
Reply:It may give your teeth uneven whitening results since there are some areas that are covered by braces. Try to wait when your braces are taken off to start your teeth whitening procedure.
