What different procedures are available for teeth whitening ?

I want to have my teeth professionally whitened . My sister had her teeth lasered last year before her wedding and she said because of it, her teeth feel more sensitive now than they were before. She also said they are blotchy now ( a year later ) . It cost her $800 ( Aus Dollars) and i don't want to pay that much for something that doesn't work.

Is there such a thing as teeth bleaching, would that be more affective ?, and more safe ? I'm going to a teeth specialist next week so i'll ask him then, but now i'm just curious to see if anyone here has any experience with teeth whitening.

thanks in advance for your help :)

What different procedures are available for teeth whitening ?
Main procedures 1. In office, like your sister. 2. Take home trays, which are made by the dentist, and you are given the bleach material done daily (costs about half as much). 3. Over the counter products like "Crest White Strips" (most inexpensive). With any bleach material, teeth usually become sensitive. You could lessen this by using fluoride, like "Act," which can be bought at any drug store. General rules: hydrogen peroxide is stronger than carbamide peroxide, strips are better than brush on gels (allows longer contact with teeth).
Reply:Hi,

If you stop eating processed foods your teeth will gain a few shades of white within weeks. Your body will love you for it too.

Reply:I use the Crest Whitening Strips. They made my teeth a little sensitive for a few days but it eventually went away and my teeth stay white for a long time. I use them like once every two years. Good luck.

Reply:Alos honey... only ahve your wisdom teeth removed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. You don't want to die!

I don't know If I can answer your question easily... The best source on all things to do with oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as specialist dentistry, is to go to http://oceansurgical.com.au . This site has all the best information on wisdom teeth, orthodontics, implant dentistry, as well as things to do with oral medicine, oral pathology, jaw correction surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, mucosal diseases, tumours, cysts, and reconstruction surgery. There are also other parts on post-operative care, medications, material types, as well as explanations on Medicare. It is an Australian site, but I highly recommend it for everyone.

Good luck with finding out what you are looking for!
