Is teeth whitening toothpaste bad for you?

I was going to get this crest toothpaste today which stated that it "whitens" your teeth. My mother said that i shouldn't get those teeth whitening toothpastes because they're bad for your teeth. So i just switched to this colgate one that supposedly just cleans your teeth well.

Why exactly is whitening toothpaste bad for your teeth?

Is teeth whitening toothpaste bad for you?
Whitening toothpaste is not "bad" for you....but for people with sensitive teeth, it is more abrasive which can make teeth more sensitive. Whitening toothpaste really does not "whiten" your teeth significantly, but it does help prevent additional staining because of its abrasiveness and take care of very minimal surface stains. Any toothpaste you can buy at the drugstore will not hurt your teeth, so use what you are comfortable with. Colgate is great, so you did make a good choice. =)
Reply:no, as long as you don't swallow it.
Reply:Some toothpastes claim to whiten teeth. There's nothing wrong with using whitening toothpastes as long as they also contain fluoride and ingredients that fight plaque and tartar. Log on to http://tipsfromruby-teethcare.blogspot.c... tips to have sparkle on your teeth and keep them in good.
