TEETH WHITENING......can you answer???

hi, I'm 15 years old, and at the moment, I have braces. But I'm getting them off really soon.

I was wondering is it safe to get your teeth whitened at 15? Also, would whitening work for my teeth? I have yellow-ish stains because when I was a baby, my parents gave me medicine that had something in it that discolors the teeth. (forget what it is called).

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TEETH WHITENING......can you answer???
Talk to your dentist. If it's safe at your age to whiten your teeth, your dentist will be able to recommend a product that will work. Some dentists even take custom molds and make whitening trays that specifically fit your teeth. This is the safest and most effective way to whiten teeth. Then again, I'm not a licensed dentist, so you should definitely get professional advice too.
Reply:When your braces first come off, you'll see white spots on your teeth where the brackets were. On most people, those wear off. I ended up still having two of them, so I bleach the rest of the front teeth using whitener. You probably could use a tooth whitener, I don't see why not. It's mostly peroxide anyway.
Reply:My first recommendation would be to try the over the counter brands of tooth whiteners. They are inexpensive and do work to some extent, but maybe enough to reverse the yellowing for you?

Professional tooth whitening is somewhat expensive, but has more dramatic results. However, even the "professional" treatments have a disclaimer saying that they might not be able to reverse discoloration due to medication or hereditary factors. The other drawback to the professional tooth whitening treatments is that they use such a concentrated level of hydrogen peroxide, that some studies have shown it can potentially (in some cases) weaken the enamel or damage gum tissue.
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html
