Whitening Teeth & Red Gums - Is it ok to continue?

I went to the dentist to have my teeth whitened. They charged me $300 and gave me an impression of my teeth and the Rev whitening kit (14% hydrogen-peroxide).

Following the instructions correctly (15 mins a day for 2 weeks - its been 4 days now) i find my gums along the theeth to be dark red. There is a slight senstitivity to some parts but it is fading.

Is there any chance of continued use of the Rev kit that the gums could be irreparably damaged leeding to receeding gums?

i would say take a little break..

like a day..floss and that stuff

it happened to me..so i stopped for a bit
Reply:nope
Reply:This is because the whiting kit wears away the laver on your teeth. This could be bad. I don't know it is your call. If you stop after two weeks you teeth should heal.
Reply:Anything that irritates the gum tissue can be a bad enough reaction to cause the tissue to die. I would talk about this with my dentist in case you are allergic to it, as my sister has an allergic reaction to anything that has hydrogen-peroxide. The tissue dies and sloughing of the skin happens, so this could happen to your gum tissues as well. I agree with another answerer about giving your teeth and gums a chance to recover from the useage of the product.
Reply:go to the dentist!
Reply:If you're using trays, you should not let the bleaching product seep onto your gums. Wipe off any excess. If your gums are really that red, I'd call my dentist for a quick look-see.
Reply:Teeth sensitivity is a side effect of the tooth bleaching ingredients, and sometimes it is advisable to stop the bleaching process until the sensitivity is eased before continuing with the process. It's best to find more information about proper teeth whitening and dental health care to have safe and effective results.
