Teeth whitening at the dentists?

I want to get my teeth whitened, i have two crowns and I heard that it would be best to go to the dentist and have them whiten my teeth. I was just wondering about your teeth whitening experience at the dentist? Like how much did it cost? What procedure did you have done? How many times did you have to do it?
